Your Listing Is Your First Impression
Buyers browsing Payment Trader are comparing dozens of listings. They're scanning fast — looking for the right monthly payment, a vehicle they recognize, and a seller they can trust. Your listing has about five seconds to pass that test.
Start With Accurate Financing Numbers
This is the #1 reason buyers contact you or scroll past. Every field matters:
- Monthly payment: The actual amount, not rounded. Buyers will verify.
- Remaining payments: Be precise. If you have 47 left, say 47.
- Cash payoff amount: Get the exact figure from your lender. This is what a buyer needs to pay off the loan entirely.
- Cash price: What you'd accept for a straight cash sale if the buyer wants to buy without assuming your loan.
- Current lender: Buyers will research the lender's assumption policy immediately. Don't leave this blank.
Write an Honest Description
You're not writing a dealership ad. Write like you're texting a friend. Explain why you're selling, what condition the vehicle is in, and what a buyer needs to know. Transparency builds trust.
Bad: "Great car, low miles, no issues, must sell."
Good: "I bought this for my commute but started working from home. It has a small scuff on the rear bumper from a parking lot — pictured. Mechanically perfect. No accidents. Just serviced."
Upload At Least 5 Photos
Listings with 5+ photos receive 70% more clicks than listings with 1–2 photos. Include:
- Front 3/4 view
- Rear 3/4 view
- Driver's side profile
- Interior (driver seat and rear seat)
- Dashboard/odometer
- Any known flaws (close up)
Be Clear About the Transfer Process
In the Transfer Notes field, tell buyers exactly what they need to know: Does your lender allow assumptions? What credit score do they require? What fees are involved? Are you willing to cover anything?
Respond Quickly
